Dear Customer,
Happy New Year! We are making a few important changes this month that we thought you should know about.
Reminder to get on latest version:
We have been sending targeted communications to customers regarding our EOL plans for certain clients. We always encourage all customers to use the latest client version available at www.authentic8.com/get
Below is a list of deprecated client versions that were deprecated on January 1, 2021. However, there is a grace period until 4/1/2021 to complete the upgrade.
- macOS client versions 3.8 and older
- Windows client versions 2.9.11 and older
- iPadOS client versions 3.7.0 and older (except for 3.7.1, iOS 13), iOS 14 is not supported until later in 2021.
- Linux - ALL clients including the most recent version 1.1.3. We will no longer support any Linux clients
Adobe Flash:
We sent a communication regarding the EOL for Flash in August 2020. Adobe has ceased support for the Flash Player effective December 31, 2020. As of January 12, 2021, Adobe has blocked Flash content from running in Flash Player -- https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/end-of-life.html
As of January 1, 2021, we will no longer support these plugins.
Plugin Name | A8 End-of-Life Date | EOL Overview |
Java | October 30, 2020 | Oracle's Java Web Plugin reached End of Life in 2017. This software has been excluded from future Java updates since September 2018. Major browsers have not offered support for Java applets since 2015. |
VLC | October 31, 2020 | HTML5 is the standard for most website structure and content presentation. This language provides native multimedia support, which negates the need for the VLC plugin. |
Flash | December 31, 2020 | Flash is a deprecated multimedia software platform used for website content production. In 2017, Adobe announced that Flash will be slated for End of Life on December 31st, 2020. |
Launcher IP Addresses:
In an ongoing effort to enhance the scalability of our application, on or around January 31, 2021, Authentic8 is changing the IP addresses of the Launchers used with the installed client.
We are replacing these IP addresses with existing entries on our Firewall Whitelist documentation: https://support.authentic8.com/a/solutions/articles/16000026587
We strongly encourage our customers to whitelist our application traffic to all of the IP addresses listed. If your organization is only allowing Silo traffic to a subset of our IP addresses, the end-users may not be able to connect when using the installed client. However, if all IP addresses are whitelisted, no connection issue is expected when using the installed client.
Note: These IP address changes do not affect our Web Client; only the installed client.
Application Server Location
We are decommissioning our Dallas application server on January 28, 2021, and will be deploying a new app server in Las Vegas. If your organization has whitelisted ALL IP addresses in our Firewall Whitelisting documentation, you will be able to take advantage of this data center when server deployment has completed.
If you have any questions or concerns around this announcement, please feel free to reach out to us at support@authentic8.com and we will be happy to assist.
Thank you,
Authentic8 Support
